Barrydale owes its existence to the vibrant trade that was established with farmers in the region in the late 1800s – and one of these products was brandy. In 1941, the town’s first “official” brandy was made at the newly established Barrydale Cellar.  Another 35 years later the first wines were bottled under the Barrydale label. We even have our own region of origin: the Tradouw valley. It is the smallest in the country but thanks to this lush valley in the Langeberg mountains and our handful of wine-loving producers in similar pockets in the Little Karoo, we’ve never missed a vintage – nor an opportunity to show that our pot still brandies still are among the best.
