 Friday the 18th of July commemorates former president, Nelson Mandela's 90th birthday.
This is an international event with people from many different countries, nations and cultures joining in the celebrations. Nelson Mandela achieved what no other could - he brought peace to our country – uniting the different races which had fought so hard against each other for years. For this our former President accepted the Nobel Peace Prize in 1993.
The international events celebrating Mandela's birthday include the 46664 concert, held in Hyde Park, London and an annual 46664 World Aids Day concert which will be held in Rio de Janeiro.
There are plenty of celebrations closer to home too, from formal events to informal office parties.
Show your honour to Mandela by dressing in black and white on the 18th of July. This is symbolic of how Madiba was able to unite different racial groups into an integrated Rainbow nation. Through his kindness, forgiveness and love for his people, Nelson Mandela has earned himself a place in our hearts for eternity. His life has been an inspiration, in South Africa and throughout the world. In his palm, he holds Africa. Nelson, we salute you.
