2012 STANFORD BIRD FAIR 28 - 30 September
Planning has been completed and the countdown has begun for this year's Stanford Stretton's Bird Fair. As in the past, our main sponsor is Edward Snell & Co under one of its brands, Stretton's London Dry Gin. The income derived from this generous benefactor makes it possible for BirdLife WalkerBay to run this increasingly popular event.
Apart from putting together a clutch of top-class birding experts including Vernon Head, chairman of BirdLife South Africa as well as the Cape Bird Club, we are including some non-birding events of an ecologically-important nature. Children from local schools will enjoy the ever-popular Eagle Encounters. In addition we shall be making extensive use of Dave de Beer a recognised Overberg bird expert, who shall be heading up a number of field outings in order to track down the rich abundance of local birdlife.
Stanford is a key focal point for birding in the Important Birding Area (I.B.A.) that makes up the greater part of the Overberg area and of the 68 Endemic bird species in South Africa, 30 occur within close proximity of Stanford.

Elim will also be hosting their Wine & food Celebration on 6 October 2012 - see more info here |
