The SA Sheepdog Championships are being held over the weekend of 25-27 September 2009.
Starting time: 08:30 every day.
Friday 25th - Qualifying round. Saturday 26th - The Semi-finals. Sunday 27th - SA National Finals.
Venue: Grootvlei Farm, 18km east of Caledon off the N2, Turn onto the Greyton road, 3km to the venue.

The 2009 superior SA National Sheepdog Championship
The South African Sheepdog Association was established in 1961 when a group of farmers in the Karoo came together to discuss the future of the sheepdog in South Africa.
The inaugural meeting, with 13 members present, was held at the Union High School in Graaff Reinet, and Mr. Bun Kingwill, was elected as the first President of the Association.
During the SA Championships of that year, “Tess” of Mr. Billy Kingwill, became the first S.A. Champion under the watchful eye of Mr. Henry Hartzenberg of Graaff Reinett.
Since the inauguration of SASDA , a SA Championship has been held  each year.

Through the years the SA Sheepdog Association still strives toward its main objective – to introduce farmers and other interested people to sheepdogs for better stock management. This is done through demonstrations and courses, as well as competitions, where breeding success is tested and the best breeding material is selected according to working ability.

This year, the Annual SASDA championship will be held at Grootvlei Farm , in the Caledon District, over the weekend 25 - 27th September 2009.
This prestigious event will sponsored by Noordfed - Superior Dog Food and hosted by the WP Sheepdog Club on the farm Grootvlei in the Caledon district.
