 The Barrydale Country Fair takes place this year from 22-23 September 2007 and promises to be bigger and better than any Fair before! The aim of the Country Fair 2007 is to showcase our terrific town and it’s lekker locals, appetizing art and fantastic fresh and homemade produce.
Just a few items to whet your appetite: Tractor-trailer and donkey carts will take visitors on a tour around the town, visiting local shops, restaurants and studios, where there will be a variety of entertainment, activities and specials to keep them busy. The tickets for this tour entitle the passengers to get on and off wherever they like, so they can complete the tour at their own pace. There will be a craft market and food stalls on the municipal lawns in the center of town, and a children’s entertainment area on the NG Church lawns, with a jumping castle, games, face painting, etc. Contact details: Barrydale Information Office 028 572 1572
Some other activities include: A parade with vintage cars, floats & motorbikes, a downhill soap-box cart race, a flower-arranging competition and auction, a beer tent with live entertainment, the Karoo Saloon potjie-kos competition finals, wine-tasting, luxury picnics at the Blue Cow, farm tours, and much more. Exciting evenings of music (A DJ in the beer tent) and dance (Flamenco dancing at the Jam Tarts Restaurant) will keep everyone on their toes! PROGRAMME: Friday, 21 September:

- 6 am – 8 am: Milking shed tours @ Blue Cow
- 9:30 am: Opening parade (with vintage cars, motorbikes, etc.)
- 10 am – 4 pm: Art & Craft Market @ Village Green
- 10 am – 4 pm: Flower arrangements on display @ Municipal Hall next to Village Green
- 10 am – 4 pm: Mini Market & Children’s activities @ Desert Fish on Route 62
- 10 am – 4 pm: Quad biking @ the Blue Cow
- 10 am – 4 pm: Luxury picnic next to the dam @ Blue Cow
- 10 am – 4 pm: Roundabout Route tours starting @ Village Green
- 10 am – 4 pm: Children’s area (jumping castle etc.) @ NG Kerk lawns opposite Village Green
- 10 am – 4 pm: Mini 4x4 trips to lookout point above Barrydale starting @ Village Green
- 10 am – 4 pm: Meditational Labyrinth open: 15 km towards Oudtshoorn on R 62 (Donations to C.R.O.W. welcome)
- 10 am – 5 pm: Strong Man competition @ Beer tent in caravan park
- 10 am – 5 pm: Kids pit bike rides @ Beer tent in caravan park
- 10 am – late: Spanish cuisine @ Jam Tarts restaurant on Route 62
